Modern Industrial meets Mid Century Modern

A little background on our house....This is the first and only house we looked at before we bought it. I know, it's a crazy thought for some, but we just knew it was the one. Colorado Springs downtown homes can be difficult to match everything on a must-have list. These old charming homes usually come with a lot of needed updates. We were extremely lucky and this house fit the checklist of everything we wanted and beyond: modern updates, hardwood floors, fireplace, plenty of space for guests, garage and the perfect downtown location. It also fit Lucy and Saki's list of a large backyard and lots of natural light  spots to lay in. An extra bonus is the dog friendly coffee shop just a couple of blocks away. 

The bungalow was built in 1903 and was previously lived in for 67 years by a lady who bought it in the 1920s. The sellers we bought it from flip houses and did a fantastic job of a complete remodel including refinishing the wood floors, new paint, stucco exterior, windows, roof, upstairs, and a brand new kitchen. The house was move in ready, but we were excited to begin making it our own with an eclectic mix of industrial, mid century modern and details that show our active outdoor lifestyle.

The inspiration board: I found photos of some items we already had and combined them with pieces we wanted to get. It's was a great visual to see them all together.

My favorite thing about this room is the brick wall. It makes the room feel oh so cozy and adds the industrial element we both love. We used Old Mill Brick- thin brick flats in Castle Gate color. I'll post the tutorial on how to do this later.

Inside of front door is painted Kendall Charcoal by Benjamin Moore-same color I used in the kitchen.

This is one of my favorite gray colors. It is a perfect dark neutral gray.

For an added industrial detail, Mike replaced the black metal mantel holders with metal pipe- spray painted oil rubbed bronze.
